First set of city walls

In the 13th century, the City of Brussels built a first set of city walls enclosing, among other things, the castle belonging to the Lord and the ducal manor. In fact, the ducal manor formed part of the walls. The Duke of Brabant therefore had direct access to the inside of the city and to the outside, as well as maintaining autonomy from Brussels.
