The Gothic chapel

Charles V had a new palace chapel built in honour of his parents. It was built in the Late Gothic style in two phases (1522-1538 and 1548-1553) and had similar dimensions to the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris (22 x 45 m). It was built into a hill and included two basement floors, which were used for food preparation and storage.
