Boleslaus I, First King of Poland

Boleslaus I, son of Mieszko I, secured the country's position on the European scene. He was coronated in 1025 - a most significant date in his reign. Poland's situation stabilised; the state gained growing independence from its powerful neighbours, Bohemia and Germany.
