Launching the 6th campaign of Italy during the summer of 1524, Francis I focuses his financial efforts on his (military) troops. The construction of Chambord, started a few years ago, is put on hold during the campaign which ends with the king's defeat at Pavia and his captivity by Charles V. The castle's construction resumes in autumn 1526.
