The castle opens to the public

Following the request of the Count of Chambord and its listing as a Historical Monument of France, the castle is opened to its first visitors. They are presented  by porters the great staircase, the terrasses and some rooms laid up for the occasion. Porters are requested to present to the visitors a guestbook and are not allowed to ask for an entrance fee.
