1490–1525

Jagiellon Power at its Peak

From 1490 to 1526 the representatives of the Jagiellon Dynasty ruled over Poland, Lithuania, Bohemia and Hungary. Their defeat at the Battle of Mohács against the Turks put an end to their hegemony. Louis II of Hungary was killed in the fight and Bohemia as well as Hungary fell into Habsburg hands. The Jagiellons kept control of Poland and Lithuania.
