Vers 1120

A ducal manor

In the 12th century, the Counts of Leuven / Dukes of Brabant who ruled over the city of Brussels, made Brussels the major city in their principality. They therefore built a manor for their use on Coudenberg, near the castle belonging to the Lord of Brussels. The first historical records date back to around 1120. This date has also been confirmed by archaeological digs that have been conducted on the site.
