John Calvin

Originally destined to dedicate himself to the Church, John Calvin chose to become a lawyer before teaching theology at Geneva University since 1536 after breaking from the Roman Catholic Church around 1530. With Martin Luther, Calvin is one of the principal figures of the Protestant Reform in the 16th century’s Europe. In 1536, he published the Institutes of the Christian Religion that presents his seminal work and beliefs that differs from Luther’s.
