The Reconquista

In the 8th century, Muslims dominated most of the Iberian Peninsula. The Reconquista was the reconquest of these territories by Spanish Christian sovereigns. The fall of the Kingdom of Grenada and the abdication of Sultan Boabdil in 1492, under the influence of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile, put an end to seven centuries of Muslim presence in Spain.
