The 1935 exhibition

The Heysel site of the Brussels International Exhibition of 1935 included a life-size reconstruction of the 18th century court district. The Aula Magna, the palace entrance porch and place des Bailles were the centrepiece of this picturesque and folkloric recreation. The River Senne and the first set of city walls were also included. Both people in period costume and visitors strolled happily around cafe terraces.
